Mobi Driller is a drilling and construction contractor in Cabo Delgado. We carry out exploration drilling for rubies and other gemstones, bored piles, solar and power line foundations, perimeter fences, household wells and water storage, earthworks and construction. Ground anchors for bridges and buildings are available anywhere in Mozambique.

We are based in Pemba and operate throughout Cabo Delgado Province, including the Montepuez ruby district. Projects in other provinces are arranged case by case. Anchor work for heavy construction is available anywhere in Mozambique.

Ruslan Nafikov has been drilling in Africa since 2008. He came to Angola in 2008 to drill piles and ground anchors on construction projects, including Torre Maculusso in Luanda, ran his own drilling company there from 2012 to 2016, and has operated in Mozambique since 2016.

Hole diameters from 250 to 1000 mm, to a maximum depth of 18 m. Exploration holes are typically drilled at around 400 mm.

A preliminary assessment of the ground is usually ready 2 to 3 weeks after mobilisation.

GPS coordinates for every hole, samples logged by depth interval, wash results, a preliminary 60x microscope check of any stones recovered, and a recommendation to either continue on the plot or relocate.

On low ground. Over thousands of years, water has moved material downslope, so low-lying areas are the first to show whether a gem-bearing gravel layer is present. If results are positive, the programme moves upslope toward the primary source.

Yes. Our rigs are mounted on JCB backhoe loaders and travel off-road and through bush under their own power. The wash plant is mobile as well.

Yes. Ruslan has trained a large crew over the years, and we run our own equipment for exploration, piles, fences, earthworks and construction. For ground anchors and deep drilling we manage the project and bring in the specialised rigs it needs.

We work as a drilling contractor for exploration and mining licence holders and for landholders. The client provides the land and licence documents before work begins.

No. We provide drilling and sampling services only. All stones recovered on site remain the property of the client.

Yes. We drill bored cast-in-place piles for houses, warehouses, site camps, perimeter walls and small infrastructure. The method is vibration-free, so we can work close to existing structures.
