Mobi Driller is a drilling and construction contractor. We explore for rubies and other gemstones, drill bored piles, put up perimeter fences, dig household wells and water storage pits, prepare sites and build across Cabo Delgado and northern Mozambique.
A trained crew, our own rigs, a mobile wash plant and heavy equipment reach remote sites off-road. For ground anchors and deep drilling, Ruslan runs the project and brings in the specialised machines.

From Tashkent to Pemba
Ruslan Nafikov was born in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, and trained as an aircraft design engineer. He lived in Russia, moved to Israel in the 1990s and became a drilling crew leader there. In 2008 he came to Angola to drill piles and ground anchors on construction projects for private and government clients, including Torre Maculusso in Luanda. In 2012 he opened his own drilling company there, and in 2016 he moved his rigs to Mozambique.

How a plot is tested
Rubies in Cabo Delgado sit in old river gravels under the cover soil. The job is to find out whether the productive layer is there, where it starts and where it is thickest.

Ruby country
The Montepuez district is one of the main ruby areas in Mozambique. Stones recovered on a plot get a preliminary check under a 60x microscope. We do not buy or sell gemstones: all stones belong to the client.

Questions clients ask
What diameters and depths can you drill?
From 250 to 1000 mm in diameter and down to 18 m. Exploration holes are typically drilled at around 400 mm.
How long until I get results?
A preliminary assessment of the ground is usually ready 2 to 3 weeks after mobilisation.
What is included in the deliverables?
GPS coordinates for every hole, samples logged by depth interval, wash results, a preliminary 60x microscope check of any stones recovered, and a recommendation to continue on the plot or relocate.
Can your rigs reach remote sites?
Yes. The rigs are mounted on JCB backhoe loaders and travel off-road and through bush under their own power. The wash plant is mobile as well.
What permits are required?
We work as a drilling contractor for exploration and mining licence holders and for landholders. The client provides the land and licence documents before work begins.
How is pricing calculated?
It depends on the number of holes, depth, diameter, distance to site and sampling scope. Send the site coordinates or a site plan on WhatsApp and we will prepare a quotation.
